EQUITY
• Keep free AP/IB exams.
• Conduct a Career Pathway and Magnet Program Study to see which schools have more programs than others and minimize inequities between schools (“The digits of your zip code should not determine the quality of your education”).
• Ensure programs, resources, and school boundaries are allocated equitably.
• Ensure special education facilities and populations are adequately funded in the Operating Budget.
• Expansion of free college preparation materials, such as free SAT tutoring.
• Ensure that 504 plans, IEP’s, and extended time accommodations are easily accessible and are being provided.
• Ensure and enhance diversity and inclusivity within curricula.
• Increase the amount of gender neutral bathrooms at every school and require new construction/renovations to have gender neutral bathrooms.
• Increase the number and improve the quality of feminine hygiene products in bathrooms.
• Ensure dress codes do not discriminate against a specific demographic.
• Encourage the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ history, literature, and contributions within the standard curriculum to foster a more inclusive and comprehensive educational experience.
• Ensure resources are distributed equally at all schools for EML and Newcomer students.
• Expand buddy programs to all secondary schools, so Newcomer students feel welcomed and supported when they first enter a new school.
• Support the transfer of credits for Newcomer students from their previous school.
• Develop a standardized system for how schools can positively welcome newcomers.
• Require all new ELD staff to be bilingual.
• Expand the hiring of EML Therapeutic Counselors (ETCs) to every high school.
• Ensure CREA (Career Readiness Education Academy) is adequately funded in the Operating Budget.
